Fishing
Byers Lake and Byers Creek is known for its exceptional Salmon and Trout fishing All five species of Pacific salmon spawn within the waters of the park and share the streams with rainbow trout, arctic grayling, and Dolly Varden. Small numbers of lake trout inhabit Byers, Spink, and Lucy Lakes. Burbot and whitefish can also be found in Byers Lake.

Hiking, from Easy woodland walks...to Backcountry Tundra Treks!
The Byers Lake Loop Trail is a 4.8-mile footpath circling the lake and crossing a suspension bridge — a good place to watch salmon in late summer.
 A moderately difficult 15.2-mile hike (one way) leads south from the Byers Lake campground (0.25 mile from cabin #1) along the Troublesome Creek Trail. 
A difficult 27.4-mile hike (one way) leads north from the Byers Lake campground along the Kesugi Ridge Trail. 
 
Look for nesting swans and their young (called cygnets). You will find beavers dams near the lake. You may even spot a moose, eagle or caribou along your travels!!
Enjoy wildflowers like wild iris, dogwood, twinflower, and spirea, or just lounge on the lake’s small sand beaches! Special features: Wildlife, backcountry Hiking, Fishing, and a place to take in some of natures most spectacular sights!!

Alaska is home to a huge variety of birds – 471 species have been positively identified to date – and makes the 49th state a paradise for birders and a destination for many who hope to see rarities like the Bluethroat, Whiskered Auklet, and Bristle-Thighed Curlew.

 You will be guided on a tour around Byers Lake that will give you an opportunity to view many of the BIRDS you will find along the Alaska trails.
